Renders of the 10.5-inch and new 12.9-inch iPad Pro models surface

Renders of the 10.5-inch and new 12.9-inch iPad Pro models surface
A little over a week ago, KGI securities Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple would be unveiling its new 10.5-inch Apple iPad Pro at WWDC next month. Today, render artist Benjamin Geskin posted what he says are renders for both the unannounced 10.5-inch Apple iPad Pro, and a new unannounced 12.9-inch iPad Pro model. Also included are cases for both tablets. Geskin's renders reveal that despite rumors to the contrary, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro will not be bezel-free. The bezels will be reduced in size, however.

Geskin says that the side bezels weigh in at 7mm, which is nearly twice the 4mm bezels expected on the iPhone 8. The Touch ID/home button will not be mechanical, but will leave the user feeling as though he/she just pressed on a real button.

Originally, there was talk that Apple had squeezed the 10.5-inch iPad Pro screen into the same size form factor as the 9.7-inch model. The only way to accomplish that would be for Apple to reduce the size of the bezels and embed Touch ID under the front display. But Geskin says that these will not be features on the 10.5-inch iPad Pro model

Check out the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro renders and images of their respective cases by clicking on the slideshow below.

They would fail if bezel free, how would you hold it?

So I should balance an expensive tablet on my hand and only use it while looking down while eliminating the ability to play most games on it because I can't grip it from the sides?

A bezel free phone is annoying enough, a bezel free tablet is a frustrating experience and accident waiting to happen. Of course if everyone dropped their iPad maybe sales would improve.

You can still easily hold it man, I just tested it. the rest of your hand wouldn't interfere with you playing a game with your thumbs if you hold it from the sides. Like samsung and their edge devices I'm sure Apple would use some sorta software to ignore touches on the edge that aren't taps or swipes by a finger, hell i'm Apple will be using such software on the new bezel less iPhone.

Perhaps virtual bezels, but that'll only look good in black and with an OLED display...

Also a waste of the display.

Absolutely wonderful! Looks gorgeous! Though, I don't care about hardware. Give me software, if it's a device made for PRODUCTIVITY.

Did the sheeple actually think that Apple was going to spend money on them this year? Never!

The 12.9 needs bezels, I have one and you need a good grip on it. I don't get the hate for bezels, I've used my mates gs8 and I hate how easy it is to trigger the screen via the curved sides.

My only problem with the 12.9 is it bends over time due to the weak aluminium.

Yep, you need somewhere to hold.

Here's an idea. Instead of having glass from edge to edge why not have a bit of a metal lip so that when you drop it it doesn't shatter the screen

A 10.5-inch iPad? Wow, that's surprising... What happened to the 9.7-inch one?

It's the same size, just a smaller bezel I'm guessing.

Hmmm looks just like the last one. If you're going to do a render, then make it look interesting.

You could save some time and just use Paint to make the screen a bit bigger. It's all a bit boring really.

I don't think you meant 4mm bezels for the iPhone 8. The iPhone 7 already has 3-4mm bezels.
