Razer Phone owners can update to Android 8.1 Oreo starting today
Razer Phone, one of the not so many gaming smartphones out there, is now being updated to Android 8.1 Oreo. The device hasn't received any major Android OS update since its release, but Razer promised the smartphone will be updated directly to Android 8.1 Oreo.

Late last month, the company promised to bring Android 8.1 Oreo to all Razer Phone units sometime in April. Today, Razer announced that Android 8.1 Oreo is now being rolled out to Razer Phones around the world.

However, that doesn't mean that the wait is over. According to Razer, the incremental roll-out will take up to 10 days to reach all Razer Phone devices out there. Unfortunately, the announcement doesn't come with an official changelog, so aside from the new features brought by Android 8.1 Oreo, there isn't much else to add.

Still, you should expect many improvements like notification enhancements, picture-in-picture, Autofill, new emojis, smart text selection, as well as better security. Speaking of security, the update may contain the April security patch too.
