Pre-registrations for the HTC Desire 820s in China surpass 1.2 million units
The HTC Desire 820s, a mid-range handset powered by the 64-bit octa-core MediaTek 6752 CPU, has scored pre-orders in excess of 1.26 million units in China, according to HTC China. The information was posted on social media site Qzone. Unlike pre-orders in the U.S., the number only shows an indication of interest in the handset, and does not reveal units reserved with a credit card payment. There is no obligation on the part of those pre-ordering the handset to actually make a purchase of it.
The difference between the HTC Desire 820 and the HTC Desire 820s is found under the hood. The former uses an octa-core Snapdragon 615, which also features 64-bit processing, but runs at a lower clock speed of 1.5GHz. The rest of the specs for both models are the same, and include a 5.5-inch screen with 720 x 1280 resolution. The handsets carry 2GB of RAM inside, along with 16GB of native storage. When it comes to both the back and front-facing cameras, the phones are well endowed. The rear camera on the handsets weigh in at 13MP while the front-facing "selfie" shooter has an 8MP sensor. The Desire 820 and Desire 820s share the front-facing BoomSound stereo speakers, and a 2600mAh battery powers the phones. Both models support LTE connectivity.
