PayPal expands its mobile payments presence into 15 more new retailers
Initially started out as a test in 51 Home Depot stores, payment company PayPal soon aggressively expanded its footprint to approximately 2,000 Home Depot stores earlier in the year, but now they’re really opening the flood gates to new places.
In a deal that’s sure to make its presence known even more in the retail landscape, PayPal announced that it has landed deals with 15 retailers to start allowing consumers to pay for purchases with PayPal on their mobile devices. No doubt a big win for PayPal, as they undoubtedly continue to make consumers know about its presence and brand, but for retailers, it’s sure to help in reducing costs that are normally associated with credit card payments.
The listing of retail stores now accepting PayPal include Abercrombie & Fitch, Advance Auto Parts, Aéropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Barnes & Noble, Foot Locker, Guitar Center, Jamba Juice, JC Penney, Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Nine West, Office Depot, Rooms To Go, Tiger Direct and Toys “R” Us. Interestingly, PayPal’s expansion into Jamba Juice, American Eagle and Toys R Us are regarded as noteworthy because those locations also use PayPal’s rival service in Google Wallet – so yeah, there’s going to be some heated competition over there.
