OnePlus 2 receives OxygenOS 3.5.5 update, finally enables VoLTE

Since OnePlus 2 was launched on the market, users complained that the smartphone doesn't have VoLTE (voice over LTE) functionality. Throughout the many months after its launch, OnePlus released quite a few updates, but VoLTE was not among the new features added.

But, as the saying goes, better late than never. OnePlus has just announced that the latest update for the OnePlus 2 enables VoLTE functionality, but only for select carriers.

There are a couple of new features and improvements included in the update as well. For example, OnePlus added App Lock and Battery Saving Mode, which can be found in the Settings / Battery / More.

There's also a new Gaming Mode in the Settings / Developer Options, as well as additional options for the Alert Slider. Shelf optimizations have been implemented too, while the OxygenOS UI has been updated along with interface and UI of the Clock app.

Aside from the changes above, OxygenOS 3.5.5 update contains the Android security patch for the month of December. Some general bug fixes and enhancements that increase system stability have also been added.

It's important to note that Clock, Calculator and Messages apps will be replaced by stock OnePlus apps in case you've never updated the corresponding Google apps. However, you won't have any issue downloading them from Google Play after applying the update.

Another small issue that might affect your OnePlus 2 after upgrading to OxygenOS 3.5.5 is the fact that many of the phone's settings will be restored to default.

As always, this OTA (over the air) will be incremental, which means it will first reach a small percentage of users in the first day, but OnePlus will begin broader rollout in the coming days.
