Nokia's latest video ad is a heart-warming bridge between the past and the present
When it comes to video ads, few phone manufacturers actually succeed to convey empathy and emotion. Many rely on the shock factor that has a certain barbaric charisma to it but proves lackluster of any artistic factor in the long run (looking at you, OnePlus), while few inspirational TV spots in-between remain memorable, like Samsung's great ostrich commercial from a few months back.
Now Nokia wants to join the fold of the latter by coming up with an equally-inspirational ad that's way better than the average one you would normally see. It features two best buddies and follows their mutual lifelong shenanigans, starting from teaming up against hordes of bullies and ending up with the best events in a man's life - marriage and welcoming their firstborns.
Of course, given that this is a TV spot, Nokia's devices play a main part in the whole thing, as they are the phones of choice the two friends use. As you might imagine, the classic Nokia 3310 makes a lengthy cameo in the first part of the clip, but the commercial ends with Nokia's newest devices, a load of which just debuted at MWC 2018.
