New Samsung tablet made for the classroom, will be in students' hands next school year
For those who hate the sound of chalk screeching on a blackboard, Samsung U.S. announced a new tablet on Wednesday, made for students. The Korean manufacturer said that the slate will be ready for the 2014-2015 school year, and is designed for students from Kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. Teachers will be able to use the specially equipped Samsung Galaxy Tab to search for content by grade and subject, and make purchases using a pre-loaded school PO. This content can then be sent to student's tablets in seconds.

The device will be easy to manage, and will offer students a 10.1 inch screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The latter is supposed to be better for viewing educational content. The slab will have Android 4.4 pre-installed, and offer a rear facing camera. NFC connectivity on the slate makes it easy for the school to set up a classroom of devices easily, and a web based console allows the school to manage its fleet of tablets.

Samsung is working with Google Play for Education in offering the tablet. This is an initiative from Google that gives teachers access to a number of teacher approved books, apps and video. Tablets are becoming a must have educational tool. Earlier this month we told you how the L.A. Board of Education is ordering an additional $115 million worth of iPads to cover 38 schools under its command.
