Moto Z Droid and Z Force Droid getting their first software update, security patch included

4comments

Verizon and Motorola today started rolling out a software update - the very first - for the Moto Z Droid Edition and Moto Z Force Droid Edition. Following the update, the two handsets will still run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (just like they did at launch, in late July), but with various enhancements and improvements.

While Verizon isn't detailing the aforementioned enhancements and improvements, we know that the update, weighing in at 436 MB, includes the July Android security patch that was promised before the Moto Z Droid family hit the market.

Not long ago, Motorola committed to releasing regular security updates for the Moto Z series, but it couldn't guarantee that these would arrive on a monthly basis. In any case, both the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid will certainly be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat, though for now there is no word on exactly when that's supposed to happen.

Do you own a Moto Z Droid or Moto Z Force Droid? If yes, have you received the update including the July security patch?
