More pictures of Microsoft's cancelled McLaren phone appear
Last year, some excitement was generated by a Windows Phone handset that was allegedly being prepped by Microsoft called the McLaren. This model was supposedly going to be the sequel to the Nokia Lumia 1020 handset. The latter is a camera-centric model that features a 41MP rear-facing snapper, and includes both a Xenon and LED flash.

The McLaren, also dubbed the Nokia Lumia 1030, was supposed to come with a 50MP PureView rear camera carrying a 4th-generation short-pulse LED flash. Images of the phone showed a strong resemblance to the Lumia 1020, especially the protruding black housing on the back, which is where the camera and flash would have been located.

The McLaren was never officially announced by Microsoft, and was reportedly 86'd by the software giant in July 2014. The handset was going to include a feature called 3D Touch, which would have allowed users to manipulate live tiles without touching the display. This version of 3D Touch has nothing to do with the Apple iPhone's Force Touch feature by the same name.
