Mobile payments executive jumps ship at Boku to join American Express
Today American Express announced that David Yoo has joined its team as the Senior Vice President of Commerce Innovation. American Express said he will, “pioneer new applications and experiences that help American Express Cardmembers shop smarter – whenever and wherever they choose.”

David Yoo was previously the Senior Vice President of Strategy, Product, and Marketing at Boku. Boku is a mobile payment company that, as recently as last summer, expanded its operations to offer one-tap billing via Android in as many as 56 countries.

American Express clearly sees mobile as an opportunity as it has previously been gotten involved with other mobile payment projects such as Serve and Google Wallet. It isn’t clear where AMEX might be heading next in the mobile arena, but David Yoo’s experience at Boku growing the service to over 25 million users, 240 carrier partners, and working with content providers such as Facebook, Disnet, and Zynga, will surely be an asset.
