With Mobile World Congress just a few days away, LG has announced the 2018 editions of its K10 and K8 budget-friendly smartphones. The company's entry-level cell phone lineup gains a total of four new models and variations, all of which we expect to see in person at this year's MWC expo.

LG describes the 2018-edition LG K8 and LG K10 as "enhanced with even more premium features rivaling those of premium flagships". Still, the LG K-series is a budget-friendly one, so don't expect anything fancy.

Design-wise, the latest LG K8 and K10 models will look pretty similar to last year's K-series phones, with plastic on the back and glass on the front, supported by metal frames on the sides. The color options will be refreshed, though availability will vary. Now, let's talk about the specs.

LG K8 (2018) specifications

We don't know what chip LG has chosen for the K8, but we know that it will feature an 1.3GHz quad-core CPU. Therefore, it could be the Snapdragon 425 or the MTK MT6737, as they were present on the phone's 2017 edition. The K8 (2018) will come in three color schemes – Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue and Terra Gold – and will have features such as Flash Jump Shot (which creates GIFs from up to 20 snapshots), HDR, selfie flash, and low-light noise reduction.

LG K10 specifications

The LG K10 will have better specs than the K8, but will stick to the budget-friendly nature of the K-series. The device will come in three variations – the regular K10, the slightly more powerful K10+, and the lower-end K10α. Unlike the K8, the LG K10 will be able to shoot wide-angle selfies and will have bokeh effect available on its front-facing camera – a first for LG. The K10 will also feature the already mentioned Flash Jump Shot and will add Phase Detection Auto Focus to further improve the camera experience.

LG K8 and K10; (2018) price and availability

There are no specifics regarding the pricing of the new LG K8 and K10 phones, but the K-series of phones is known for being super affordable, and it's only logical to expect the latest models to follow suit. LG is planning on launching its new models in key markets across Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. There is no confirmation on a US release, but we won't be surprised if at least one of the new models appears unlocked on Amazon or on a carrier's pre-paid roster.
