Social media Instagram might release video and voice call features soon to increase the functionality of the app to an even greater extent.
News has surfaced after an APK teardown in which a couple of icons and files were spotted, presumably hinting at the upcoming features. The files and icons have the names "voice call" and "video call" respectively, which is more than enough to tell what's coming. Voice and video calls are already available on Instagram's biggest rival – Snapchat, so it makes sense for the social media to include that option as well. One thing to mention is, if it goes live, the feature will probably be available in Direct – Instagram's messaging app.
This is not the first time we hear about Instagram preparing to implement the option to have calls. Not so while ago, the social media was rumored to be testing the feature, but only within the company. These teardowns have been pretty accurate so far, which means we might see the call feature sooner rather than later.
Instagram is currently the second most popular social media in the US, right after its owner – Facebook.
