Instagram update brings support for landscape and portrait images

A new version of Instagram is now available for download via App Store and Google Play. The updated app adds a couple of new features into the mix, so if you already have it installed, here is what you'll get.

Since Instagram Direct was launched for everyone back in April, developers have been trying to further enhance users experience by adding new features and improvements.

Some of the most important have been announced today, as Instagram Direct now supports landscape and portrait orientations. Whenever you send a permanent image or video to your friends using Direct from the camera roll, you won't have to crop it anymore.

Furthermore, the update brings support for links in Direct, which means that Instagram users can now share websites with their friends and preview them directly in the conversation. The same goes for phone numbers and addresses.

Support for landscape and portrait images in Direct is already available for iOS devices with Instagram version 10.22. However, Android users will have to wait a while longer for these new features to arrive. On the flip side, links in Direct messages are available on both mobile platforms.
