Huawei to offer a new phone carrying a 7.12-inch screen, a 4900mAh battery and a leather back
Chinese regulator TENAA has just certified a new Huawei handset with the model numbers of  ARS-TL00 and ARS-AL00. The former is the white colored variant, while the latter is the same phone dressed in black. The device is similar to the Honor 8X Max in most regards, including the 7.12-inch LCD screen on board, carrying a 1080 x 2244 resolution. One change will apparently be under the hood. While the Honor 8X Max is equipped with a Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform running at 1.8GHz, the chipset on the new device runs at a clock speed of 1.95GHz.

Huawei is stuffing the new phone with a large 4900mAh battery, and a photo of the back of the ARS-TL00 reveals a leather covered rear, including the stitching. The phone will be equipped with a vertically mounted dual camera setup (16MP + 2MP) with an 8MP selfie snapper found in front. A fingerprint scanner also adorns the back.

The TENAA certifications also reveal that the ARS-TL00/ARS-AL00 will carry 4GB of RAM and feature 64GB/128GB of native storage. Android 8.1 Oreo will be pre-installed. And if you look closely at the picture showing the front screen, you can see that the new phone will have a waterdrop notch on the display.

You can check out images of both the ARS-TL00 and ARS-AL00 by clicking on the slideshow below.

You mean, price reduction. They don't have anything to compete with the iPhone XR.

The phone in the article has almost the same PPI as the XR. Food for thought... maybe pixels aren’t what make a screen good? Displaymate has almost always ranked iPhones highly, despite the resolution, in part due to other factors Android OEMs crap the bed on. Such as: viewing angles, color accuracy, outdoor visibility, etc. The only exemption is Samsung, who makes the best screens in mobile.

"You mean, price reduction. They don't have anything to compete with the iPhone XR" The iClone XR has the specs of most $300 Android phones, Apple is milking this one to the max (pun intended).

Leather back is a great choice to replace glass, although textured plastic or kevlar would be much better. Glass is the stupidest back material ever invented. You can't pay $1000+ on a phone which is toast after one drop.

Damn, that's a small tablet. I think that is getting to big for a phone.

Might as well just get an iPad Mini and Skype your phonecalls.

I have, Honor 8X Max on order. 7.12" screen without a massive notch and less than £200 so it don't matter if i trash it, it's the perfect work phone for me.
