Huawei to launch Mate 9 Pro with 5.9-inch QHD display and Android 7.0 Nougat

Huawei is expected to launch not one, but two Mate 9 smartphones on November 3. Both will be available for purchase by the end of the year, but they will come with slightly different specs under the hood.

The standard Mate 9 model, internally known as Manhattan, is said to pack Huawei's octa-core Kirin 960 chipset, which was officially unveiled not long ago. Also, the phablet will sport a large 5.9-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

It will come with 4GB RAM inside and different internal memory capacity: 64GB and 128GB. The smartphone should also feature 12-megapixel dual-cameras on the back with Leica lens, as well as fingerprint sensor.

On the other hand, the Mate 9 Pro model, codenamed Long Island, will boast a much better 5.9-inch display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels resolution). There won't be any changes inside when it comes to hardware except for the fact that it will include 256GB of storage.

Another aspect that Huawei should take into consideration when choosing between the two phablets is the included OS. Of the two, the Mate 9 will be the only one to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat onboard, while the standard Mate 9 is likely to come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow right out of the box.

Obviously, the Mate 9 Pro will be slightly more expensive than the Mate 9, but aside from the display, amount of storage and the OS, it's unlikely that there will be any other major differences between the two phablets.

Woway(that's how it should be spelled) has been behind with GPU from the start. Way behind. Current GPU is barely acceptable for 1080. So a 2K display better have some GPU love as well.

Even the previous one was good enough for 2k but the new one which is 180% faster then previous will run 2k with ease.

I read somewhere in comments only thought, g71mp16 is 180% fast than t880mp12. Still that will make new gpu (g71mp8 ) 2.7 time faster than than previous gpu (t880mp4).

Its actually 180% faster than previous Kirin 950. I dont know about G71MP16 though but it will be more powerful than A9X I believe.

Also how about increasing the LTE bands say by twice as well. The 7 and 8 have significantly less the Samsung and Apple products.

Emui is excellent. I have it

Emui is not my preference in terms of UI, but Emui is very very optimized The P9 (and probably the Honor 8) is just as fast as the OP3 and iPhone 7 (except for gaming)

No other difference between Pro and standard the storage, what about screen resolution and battery? Wasn't the Mate 9 to come with 6GB RAM? THIS could be a great replacement for my Note 4

I think you have to wait for the mate 9 pro official launch for your question.

The pic looks fake . It can't have 2 fingerprint scanner. One in front other in back . I think the front or the back is not right. The displays are from Samsung, so it should look like Samsungs ,right.

Fake? Don't you know this picture is from famous leaker call Evleaks (Evan Blass)?

Yes I know it from him . But something is wrong. Now a days most important use of home button is the Fingerprint scanner. But it has it on the back , then what's the point of the home button.

The displays are from Samsung, so it should look like Samsungs ,right. - Can't be so sure since, nexus 6 had used displays from Samsung but same as 1.5 year old ( at that time) s4. While 6p used latest one and looked equally great.

I don't know why it has a fingerprint scanner on the back and the home button on the front.

Im very happy that there is still the 1080p version. Longer Battery is more important for me than the useless higher res.

I just want to see EMUI 5.0, it was mentioned to be their biggest leap in design since EMUI 1.0. Let's hope it is not iOS or MIUI/Flyme clone.

If this render is real, the Pro version won't have a 3.5mm headphone jack!!!

yep, now that you said that i checked the picture. i hope it's "just" a render and that the actual device does have a headphone jack.
