Huawei MediaPad M5 leaked renders reveal lack of audio jack, high-end specs
It appears that Huawei will be one of the few companies to release new Android tablets in the first half of the year. The Chinese giant is ready to unveil one or more slates, but that probably won't happen until late next month at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018.

We reported last month on an Android tablet that Huawei might launch at some point, the MediaPad M5. It looks like the device made it to FCC (Federal Communications Commission), which means it will be introduced pretty soon.

Along with some information about the MediaPad M5's specs, FCC also listed several pictures of the product. According to these pictures, Huawei has decided to drop the 3.5mm audio jack, so the tablet only comes with a USB Type C port.

Furthermore, the listing at FCC confirms the tablet will be powered by a 4,980 mAh battery and that it will include a SIM card slot. The home button on the front side may house a fingerprint sensor, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Based on previous rumors, the MediaPad M5 is a high-end tablet that runs Android 8.0 Oreo right out of the box. Also, the slate should sport an 8.4-inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution, as well as either 4GB or 6GB RAM. Huawei's tablet should be equipped with the company's proprietary Kirin 960 chipset.

There's also a camera on the back that lacks LED flash, but there aren't any details available about its configuration. The same goes for the front-facing camera that's been positioned in the middle of the bezel on the top side of the display.
