High spec'd Gionee E8 and dual battery Gionee M5 to be unveiled on June 10th
Two handsets from Gionee that have caught the attention of PhoneArena readers will be unveiled officially on June 10th. The beastly Gionee E8 and the dual battery containing Gionee M5 will both be officially introduced at an event on June 10th, according to a pair of teasers released by the company.

The Gionee E8 is a 6-inch phablet with a 1440 x 2560 resolution screen. The 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 SoC is under the hood, featuring a true octa-core 2GHz CPU with the IMG G620 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of expandable storage. The 23MP rear camera will allow for 100MP interpolated pictures, and there is an 8MP camera on front for selfies and video chats. The phone is powered by a 3250mAh battery, is 9.6mm thick, and has Android 5.0 pre-installed.

The Gionee M5 offers a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with resolution of 720 x 1280. The handset is driven by a quad-core 1.3GHz CPU and includes 2GB of RAM. The unit is equipped with 16GB of expandable storage. This model's claim to fame is a dual battery system that gives users up to 6000mAh of battery power. Despite the two cells, the Gionee M5 is only 8.6mm thick, although it does weigh 213 grams. The phone comes with back and front-facing cameras of 8MP and 5MP respectively, and Android 5.0 is pre-installed.

Pricing and availability should be announced at the event.

I still wont buy a Chinese phone. Their phones are badly optimized and software to hardware is crapulous.

I agree. I wonder what type of design engineering trade offs are going to be involved to achieve the room for this capacity. If it's put under heavy scrutiny and testing, then I'll see what kind of a skeptic I am.

Try the ZTE Nubia Z7 mini. Had it before and got wifi, instagram, skype, and other background apps open, lasted 1 day before I charge. I don't know about games cause it was gone before I tested it for asphalt.

What Gionee model do you use? Would you like to share us how's the performance and software optimization since most PA commenters only know Samsung, Apple and Apple?
