HTC U12+ retail box leaked, shows all the specs you could care about

HTC U12+ retail box leaked, shows all the specs you could care about
What's expected to be HTC's 2018 flagship device, the U12+, has leaked profusely over the course of the past few weeks, giving us a delightfully-insightful look at what the device might bring around.

Today, a leaked image allegedly depicting the back of an HTC U12+ retail box provides us with yet another look at the most plausible specs of the device. A Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with a whole lot of 8GB of RAM, 128GB of native storage, a 5.5-inch QHD LCD display, and a 12MP f/1.5 OIS-enabled rear camera make up some of the more intriguing hardware details of the phone, but the rest sounds promising as well. Qualcomm QuickCharge 4.0, Qi wireless charging, IP68 water resistance, a fingerprint scanner, BoomSound high-res audio, a dual 8MP selfie camera with OIS, and squeeze-happy Edge Sense 2 complement the specs list.

Although we have no concrete day for the announcement of the device, the device would probably be revealed in the coming weeks as the leaks and rumors are gaining pace.

I can live without amoled. Tested HTC U11+ before and display looks awesome. Not battery efficient as amoled but colors are accurate and great.

Cant comment on the new display, but the HTC U11+ had one of the worst displays ever, i also used it. Brightness could be best described as mediocre, flickering at very low brightness and absolutely terrible sunlight legibility. Colors were okay not great as you mention. Amoled screens are miles ahead despite their issues.

I'm just guessing, but perhaps yours was defective? The U11+ screen is supposed to be similar to the U11 in terms of quality. We own the U11 and iPhone 8 Plus, and I've had the Note 8 to use side by side. The U11 screen is better than the iPhone 8 Plus, and on par with the Note 8. Not as deep of blacks as the Note, but it is sharper and does not have dark color banding.

If this thing has 3500+ mAh battery, this will be the phone of the year. At 3000 mAh, this will be the missed opportunity of the year.

I don't think it will have a 3000 mAh battery... probably 3400 to 3600 mAh. That being said, they did some crazy updates in March which gave the U11 (3000 mAh) two to three day battery life. I went 5 days of light use on one charge just to try it out.

Love the look! Only wish the screen is 16:9 ratio.

Exactly! A 5.5" 16:9 screen is so much more useful than a 18:9 one.

Why so much bezel, and why 5.5".?

5.5" in 16:9 is already huge and ok for most consumers. No need to go 6" all the way.

Why only 5.5inches? I'm really looking for something compelling to replace my Mate 9. Nothing so far really calls to me. If this had a 6 inch screen and 4000mah battery i'd be sold.

Get the Mate 10 or P20. You can disable the notch on the latter as far as I remember.

Perhaps they'll have a new marketing strategy this year. I'm hoping that this comes together for HTC. I decided to buy the s9+ this year. Too many compromises with the other Android oems. Ive bought LG and HTCfor the past three years and haven't used Galaxy device since the s3. I was just sick of the hardware compromises and the lack of support. I used a G5 off and most on for two years and I have alot to say about that device. The battery life even with an extra battery was terribly underwhelming. Display burn in was a big issue as well. Camera shutter latency was very bad.

5.5" QHD+ seems like a rather small screen. Especially for a self-branded Plus device.

Hope they let people choose screen like Huawei did to Mate 10 duo.
