Google sends out this month's security update; some BlackBerry Priv users are receiving it now

Google announced today that it has sent out the Android security update for April. 29 issues are covered by the update, the most serious "is a Critical security vulnerability that could enable remote code execution on an affected device through multiple methods such as email, web browsing, and MMS when processing media files." A complete list of all 29 can be found by clicking on the sourcelink.
The good news is that as far as Google can tell, none of the vulnerabilities were exploited. While the security patch is already available as factory images on the Google Developer site, the new builds will be received by the AOSP some time in the next two days. At the same time, Nexus devices will receive the update OTA.
One non-Nexus device that is receiving the update today is the BlackBerry Priv. To see if the monthly update has hit your handset, go to Settings > About phone > Check for update. The new build number is AAE298. Keep in mind that this applies only to Priv models purchased directly from BlackBerry. Those who purchased their Priv from a carrier will have to wait for their wireless operator to send out the update.
