Google says fix is coming for slow to wake Pixel 2 XL and offers a workaround
You might remember than exactly a week ago, several Google Pixel 2 XL owners complained that after installing the June OTA Android security update, their devices would take two to three seconds longer to wake. At the time, a Google employee on the company's Issue Tracker started sniffing around, which was a hopeful sign for those with sleepy Pixel 2 XL units.

Sure enough, this morning Google posted a statement on a Reddit page that focuses on the aftermath of the June update on the Pixel 2 XL. It says that Google is aware of the issue and has already "identified a fix" that it will be disseminating over "the coming weeks." Until that fix is pushed out, Google suggests that Pixel 2 XL owners set the Ambient Display to "always on," which should hold off users for now.

The June Android security update was pushed out on June 4th. In addition to the latest security patch, the update including some functional updates that improved a number of issues such as Bluetooth LE performance, antenna switching in areas with weak coverage, Wi-Fi connectivity with certain Wi-Fi access points, and the consistency of the phone's Always-On display, and proximity sensor.

I jumped on to beta 2 from my oreo and some how the general screen brightness seems to have gone down... Wonder if it's just me :(

the screen brightness in general or the slider/percentage is way lower? On DP2 my slider/percentage was really low compared to before but the "brightness" was about the same. On DP3 my slider is where it was on oreo but now the "brightness" is lower. Maybe on DP4 Google will find the happy medium.

I feel like the full brightness is the same, but it gets WAY dimmer WAY quicker. Where I used to keep my brightness around 65%, now I have to have it up around 85%.

You use a pixel and expect it to be good? You're a beta tester for life. They'll fix one problem and bring out multiple problems. Have fun with that ugly panda phone

True, but that is also the case for IPhone users.

I hope the pixel 2 if free from all these issues. It's bad enough that it has a notch.
