Softening the blow: the Galaxy S9 will be bundled with free gifts... in some markets
So, the rumor mill is relentlessly churning out reports that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ duo will be “the most expensive Galaxy S phones ever”. No numbers have been pinned, but considering that the Galaxy S8 started at $750, we are thinking that the Galaxy S9 might hit the $800 mark as its starting price... and we are wincing a little on the inside.

The price of the flagship smartphone is rising steadily and that hurts. However, Samsung will try to soften the blow, according to a new rumor.

Apparently, select markets will get a special gift to go with their brand-new Galaxy S9. What kind of gift? Well, we don't know yet. Possibly a new set of Gear VR goggles? A game controller? Wireless headphones? OK, we are dreaming now.

Unfortunately, the leakster did say that only a few markets will get the gift bundle, which means that the rest of the world will have to pay the full price without getting many perks in return.

When launched Samsung always includes something free with their preorders. This is nothing new.

Right.. They always give a free MicroSD, wireless charger, Gear VR, or at least a free case.. They even give free DeX for Note8 pre-order here (but only limited to the first 100 IIRC :-/)

Every reviewer praised the phones performance. And the phone has lots of useful features. And check out S8 and Note 8 in Oreo Beta speed tests against top flagships before you type.

And missed out on the App pair features, palm swipe to capture, Edge lighting, smart pickup and call dismissing gestures, split screen app multitasking with the addition of picture in picture resizable window app. Screen off memo, best always on displays layouts, live focus, back ground blur after the shot and choosing to keep a wide angle if you like it. Maybe not the best camera, but still great. Also you know whats great, watch the Oreo s8 and Note 8 take on the Pixel 2XL and OnePlus 5T and destroy them in speed and ram performance tests on youtube. S8 also beat out iPhone X in Oreo Beta also. Doesnt matter if they run Nougat, Samsung's new experience UI 8.1+ are running like stock vanilla smooth. Also I have 374 apps on my phone and I never had a lag or stutter, or force hard button rebopopot from freezes on my S8 which is about 10 months old. Or my Note8 which is about 5 months old.

Wait a couple of months until the price drops. This isn't that big of an issue.

Nah... would only get phones for the same CPU around $500. Eyes on OnePlus. The Pixels are over-priced as well.

watch when it water damages and you'll end up buying another one. Might as well had bought Note which reviewers are saying phone of the year last year. And if you think IP rating isn't important, I had an S8 that a river treasure diver returned to me right after he found it when I lost it for 2 nights and 1 in the American River in Sacramento. Don't cheap out, occasionally if a phone stops working one day for some reason. OnePlus have been known to have horrible support. You'll probably wouldn't want to buy another phone from them.

It's nothing to do with the water proof. Galaxy S7s already have it at lower prices.

They're going to have to work some real magic if they want my repeat business. I got the Gear VR last time which was good fun for a while and saved me about £2000 because it stopped my buying an Oculus Rift or a Vive.

Come on now....they can at least afford to include a quality lubricant like they use in hospitals.

they're not exactly free; you pay for them in the price of the phone. they're just selling you more stuff bundled in.
