Back in August, news broke that Samsung was working on an AirPods Max 2 rival. Now, we have the leaked name of these over-ear headphones. Behold the Samsung Galaxy Studio. I’ve wanted Samsung over-ear headphones for years, and they're finally happening.

The first hint that Samsung was working on a new headphone model came in August in the form of strings of code and some in-app graphics.
According to the latest leak on X, the upcoming Galaxy headphones will be called Galaxy Studio. | Image by X
Now, thanks to the developer @evowizz on X, we know the exact marketing name of the upcoming product. The Galaxy Studio model seems to be right around the corner.
The same account correctly predicted that the Galaxy Buds Able would be called Galaxy Buds On. These open-ear buds were officially announced last week, so I'm positive the Galaxy Studio name is the correct one.
Samsung is no stranger to over-ear headphones

Back in 2015, Samsung released two over-ear headphones — the Samsung Level Over and the Samsung Level On. It's easy to forget a gadget launched a decade ago, and the upcoming Samsung headphones will most likely cater to a different audience, but the Korean company has a lot of expertise in the audio field.
Samsung owns Harman, a company that has several audio brands under its umbrella, including JBL and AKG. The latter is a specialist when it comes to over-ear headphones, both consumer- and studio-grade, and I remember using the AKG K55 for almost a decade.

I expect Samsung to tap into the huge experience of these subsidiary companies and produce a really high-end pair of headphones.

Samsung Galaxy Studio will most likely compete with Apple's AirPods Max 2
Beware, Apple AirPods Max, Galaxy Studio is coming for you! | Image by PhoneArena
The name alone suggests that Samsung is serious about audio quality. Calling your first over-ear headphone product in a long time "Studio" shows confidence.
I think the Samsung Galaxy Studio will be positioned as audiophile-grade equipment, but with all the modern features of a mass-produced Bluetooth model.
The main competitor, of course, will be the AirPods Max 2. Sadly, we don't know much about the Galaxy Studio's specs, other than a hint toward the overall design coming from stylized in-app graphics.
I expect those headphones to come with all the bells and whistles you'd expect in a high-end model. Back in August, there was some speculation about the Galaxy Studio (codenamed H1) specs, although I'd be careful about the next few lines and take them with a grain of salt.
The Galaxy Studio headphones are expected to get features such as Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, the SSC UHQ audio codec, Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC), ambient sound mode, AI assistant integration, Auto Switch support, and much better battery life than any of Samsung's earbuds out there.
Galaxy Studio headphones price and potential launch date
Given the nature and frequency of the leaks, this might check out. As for the price, these high-end headphones won't be cheap, taking into account that Samsung is aiming to challenge the AirPods Max 2 and other flagship models, such as the Sony WH-1000XM6.
The former competitor launched at $549, while the Sony WH-1000XM6 retails for $459, so we should expect a similar price tag for the Galaxy Studio.
Would you buy a high-end over-ear model from Samsung at that price?
