I’ve wanted Samsung over-ear headphones for years — they’re finally happening

I've always wondered what if Samsung made over-ear headphones. Soon, this little question might be answered.

I've always wondered what if Samsung made over-ear headphones. Soon, this little question might be answered, because Samsung is reportedly working on a high-end headphone model aimed at taking on the AirPods Max and the Sony WH-1000XM6.

Samsung Galaxy H1 headphones

Our colleagues at SamMobile have unearthed another piece of valuable information from the code of Samsung's Wearable app. Much like the previous leak about the upcoming Galaxy Buds Able clip-on earbuds, the codename and some graphics of the new over-ear headphones have been found inside the app.

According to the leak, Samsung calls these headphones Galaxy H1. The graphics show a stylized visual representation of a pair of headphones but don't reveal much about the Galaxy H1 design.

Galaxy H1 specs and features

There's no clear information about the exact specs of these Galaxy H1 headphones, but several industry insider sources have made educated guesses.

The Galaxy H1 headphones are expected to be pretty high-end, with features such as Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, the SSC UHQ audio codec, Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC), ambient sound mode, AI assistant integration, Auto Switch support, and, of course, much better battery life than any of Samsung's earbuds out there.

Price and launch window?

SamMobile believes these Galaxy H1 headphones will launch sometime in 2027, probably alongside the Galaxy S27 series launch.

As for the price, there's no information at the moment, but give the features and market segment Samsung is aiming at, don't expect these headphones to be cheap.

The Apple AirPods Max 2 start at $549, while the Sony WH-1000XM6 retails for $459, so we should expect a similar price tag for the Galaxy H1.

Do we need another headphones player on the market?

Yes, absolutely! Samsung has been dishing out some pretty good-sounding earbuds in the past couple of years. Furthermore, the feature set of these models has been growing and matching other big names in the industry. For people inside the Samsung ecosystem, a pair of headphones might be the missing link and the last accessory to connect all the dots.

What do you think about the Galaxy H1? Would you buy a pair, or are you more inclined to stick with the tried-and-tested headphones out there?
