Facebook to launch new Watch platform for shows on mobile devices

A new Watch platform for shows on Facebook was announced earlier today, which will soon be available on mobile, TV apps, desktop, and laptop. The new Watch platform is aimed at everyone that creates content, as well as publishers who want to find the right audience and build an active community.

According to Facebook, Watch will group together a wide range of shows, from reality to comedy to live sports. Moreover, some of the shows that will be hosted on the new platform have been funded by Facebook, including series like Returning the Favor created by Mike Rowe. The Watch platform will include many types of shows such as:

Live shows that connect directly with fans;
Shows that engage fans and community;
Shows that follow a narrative arc or have a consistent theme;
Live events that bring communities together.

The new Watch platform will be made available to a limited group of Facebook users in the United States, but the whole experience will expand to new people and territories soon. Also, the Shows section will be open to a limited group of creators, but access will be given to everyone soon.
