While everyone reports that Facebook is turning into a dating app, let's take a look at some of the important changes the social network company plans to its Messenger app. The millions of Messenger users will have a shock very soon since Facebook announced it plans to completely redesign the application.
Messenger is supposed to become simpler and cleaner than ever, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg promises. According to him, “when you're messaging, you really want a simple and fast experience. We're taking this moment to completely redesign Messenger to focus on these ideas.”
More importantly, these changes will come very, very soon, as Facebook had been working on this major design overhaul since the beginning of the year. Along with the cleaner and simpler experience, Facebook's development team confirmed it will add a dark theme.
It appears that Facebook's main objective is to turn Messenger into the app that it once was – a simple to use messenger focusing solely on communication, not a tool that can be used for other purposes like advertising and gaming.
