Cortana to have a different voice actress on handsets in the UK
By now, it is a well known fact that Windows Phone's Cortana is not only named after the AI from Microsoft's Halo game series, but is also voiced by the same actress – Jen Taylor. Well, it appears this will only be true for users in the US. As Cortana's Developer Preview is about to cross the pond and arrive to phones in the UK, it has now been reported that she will arrive with a brand new british accent. This means no Jen Taylor.
This is bound to irk some fans, who have been expecting to hear the familiar voice that has graced the Halo games, as well as every Cortana preview we have been treated to so far. However, it would seem that Microsoft is much more interested in keeping its product on a highly professional level, by giving it the appropriate accent for the region, rather than keeping the ties between the game's protagonist and the personal assistant unsevered.
Still, here's hoping that sometime in the future, users would be able to pick their preferred voice pack.
