Cheap ZTE Blade L3 coming soon, Android Lollipop in tow

Not long after we saw the ZTE Blade S6, which runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, here we have another ZTE-made smartphone which comes with the latest version of Android pre-installed: the Blade L3.

Like the S6, the Blade L3 - pictured above - sports a 5-inch display, though its resolution is a lower one: 540 x 960 pixels. Its processor is also weaker: instead of the octa-core Snapdragon 615 that's powering the Blade S6, the L3 uses a quad-core MediaTek MT6582M CPU clocked at 1.3 GHz. The new Blade further features an 8 MP rear camera, 2 MP front-facing camera, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal memory, and a 2000 mAh battery. Of course, all this means the L3 will be significantly cheaper than the S6, which is expected to cost around $250.

While ZTE doesn't say when and where the Blade L3 will be released, the company mentions that the handset has several color variants, including " unique pearlescent colors." Sounds fancy.

All in all, it seems that we should get used to seeing only Lollipop (or OSes based on it) running on newly-announced Android smartphones. Here's hoping.
