Apple's cheapest iPad to get a 10.2" display upgrade, all iPhones to lose 3D Touch this fall
Apple's most affordable, 2018 iPad is apparently due for a refresh, if a new report from Taiwan is to be believed, and the screen size is said to grow from 9.7" to 10.2". While half an inch difference may not sound like much, it would most likely mean a different body, too, as either the bezels will be slimmed down, or the whole device will grow in size.

Something tells us that Apple would choose the first approach, and, given that the iPad now starts from $329, a more elegant design at this price point would certainly be welcome. Mass production is slated for as soon as this month, which it should, if Apple wants to ramp up the quantity for an announcement together with the new 2019 iPhones at the beginning of September.

In other Apple-related news from Taiwan, Digitimes is reporting that local touch module suppliers are preparing for a life without 3D Touch panel orders for iPhones, as all 2019 models are said to ship without the pressure-sensitive screen technology.

Apple will instead replace it with long-pressing and other low-tech shenanigans that are already clearly demonstrated on the cheapest iPhone XR. That's not the first time we are hearing the Apple will nix its legacy 3D Touch technology in future iPhones, so where there is smoke, there might very well be fire.
