Samsung is well at work on its Android 8 update for its
Galaxy S8 and
S8+ flagships and it seems the company might be preparing a US beta program for interested fans. The news comes from a leakster who allegedly got a heads-up email from Samsung.
A quick rundown of how this will reportedly work — there are only 7,500 spots for the entire USA. Participants would have to have a Galaxy S8 that's on T-Mobile or Sprint. Signup is done via the Samsung+ or Samsung Members app and the beta will open up next Tuesday, the 31st of October.
As far as new features go, we expect
some goodies like the new notification dots to either replace Samsung's badges or at least give you the option to switch to them, power consumption optimizations, picture-in-picture, and lots of other tiny updates that improve overall device workflow.
We've got no news whether the beta program would expand to other carriers or internationally anytime soon.
Have you got an eligible device? Itching to sign up?
