Amber update brings stereo recording to Nokia Lumia 920

Amber update brings stereo recording to Nokia Lumia 920
Besides the always-on clock and tap-to-unlock wake up capabilities that the Amber update will bring to the Nokia Lumia 920, the update will also allow the handset to record audio in stereo. A YouTube subscriber who apparently installed a leaked version of the update, uploaded a couple of videos showing off this feature. To hear the difference between the mono and stereo sound, you might want to use a headset.

Once the GDR2/Amber update is installed on your Nokia Lumia 920, you will need to install the Nokia Pro Cam app. The phone sports three high amplitude audio capture microphones and only one of them has been active for recording until now. One has been used for noise cancelling.

To compare the mono and stereo record abilities on the Nokia Lumia 920, you will need to listen to both YouTube videos below. The first one was recorded in mono with stereo used on the second clip. The stereo recording feature could end up activated on all Nokia Lumia 92x models.

Hmm I wonder if my l1020 will get stereo recording. ;) anyone else experiencing bad charge time with their l1020? I went to an amusement park and I used it pretty heavy but only got 6 1/2 hours of use.. Now that's not with my camera grip so I'm sure I would get more since it has a battery pack. Kind of a let down. Maybe I need to turn off some things that are working in the background..

You take 50+ pics in a short amount of time it will have an impact on battery life. Mine goes all day with minimal stuff going on. 20 min of web, 20 texts, 90 minutes of bluetooth audio through my car, 1 email account on constant sync, 1 on 15 min sync. Off the charger at 6:15 AM and its around 35-40% at 9PM that night.

That's good to know and yes I took around that many photos. It just worries me because I'm using it on vacation to Disney. I'm going to test it with the grip to see how it holds up. I used it today at a race and the zoom was pretty amazing tbh. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the camera.

I can't believe that there are actually many features that Symbian had that Windows Phone didn't. Microsoft is way too slow.
