Pick up the Amazon Fire 7 and Fire 7 Kids Edition for up to 40% off with Prime membership
Amazon Prime members now have the opportunity to pick up an Android tablet for just $29.99 or 40% off the regular price of $49.99. As you might have figured out by now, this is the Amazon Fire 7 tablet running on a "forked" version of Android. In other words, you won't be able to install any of Google's core Android apps although you will get to browse through the Amazon Appstore.

Back in May, Amazon upgraded the tablet by boosting the amount of storage of the base model to 16GB and adding a 32GB option. It also put in a faster 1.3GHz quad-core processor. The slate is equipped with a 7-inch LCD display with 1GB of memory and a pair of 2MP cameras (one in the back and one in front). The tablet also features hands-free Alexa and the virtual digital assistant will be able to set alarms, give you the latest scores and news, stream music and much more. Amazon says that the battery will allow you to browse the web, view videos, enjoy music and more for up to seven hours.

Now we do need to point out that the 16GB model is $29.99, but if you need more storage you can pick up the 32GB unit for $49.99. That is a savings of $20 or 29% from the regular price. Again, you must be a Prime member to take advantage of the discounts which are available for all color options: Black, Plum, Sage, and Twilight Blue.

While the Fire 7 would be a good tablet for the kiddies, Amazon actually has a Kids Edition version of the Fire 7 that is also on sale for Prime members. The Fire 7 Kids Edition features a Kid-Proof case with a stand that is built right in. It can protect the tablet from drops, which is probably the number one issue that kids have with their mobile devices. And just in case, there is a two-year "worry-free" guarantee. Amazon says if the tablet breaks over that time period, send it to them and the slate will be replaced for free. You can choose from three color options (Blue, Pink, and Purple).

More importantly, a purchase of the Fire 7 Kids Edition includes one free year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited. This contains the content that will help your kid occupied at that fancy restaurant where you have been previously asked to leave. FreeTime Unlimited features 20,000 apps, games, videos, books, audiobooks and educational material from Disney, Nickelodeon, PBS and more. Normally $99.99, Prime members can pick up the tablet for $59.99 or 40% off. The Kids Edition version of the Fire 7 comes with 16GB of storage.
