Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7-inch hands-on
Amazon has unleashed the newest generation Kindle Fire HD series. The 7-inch model was available to go hands-on. It feels good in the hands, it is slightly thinner than the first generation Kindle Fire. The speakers have been moved from the edge to the back and Amazon has employed Digital Dolby Plus technology. The screen is vivid, very crisp. The user interface is very fluid with little-to-no evidence of the occasional stutter or lag that its predecessor sometimes encountered.
The 7-inch HD model is slightly longer and wider and a touch thinner than the original Kindle Fire. The screen resolution of the 7-inch HD is 1280x800 HD LCD display, offering up to 720p HD. It also has an HD front facing camera for video Skype calls. Under the hood is a dual-core 1.2GHz OMAP 4460 processor. The 7-inch Kindle Fire HD begins shipping on September 14th, and prices start at $199 for the 16GB model and $249 for the 32GB model.
