T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon — the Big Three of the United States telecom industry — might or might not be facing severe competition from Elon Musk’s up-and-coming Starlink Mobile. Though outlook on the new wannabe remains divisive and mixed, customers of the Big Three have already laid out what would make them switch should Musk’s wireless alternative take off.
Lower pricing is king
In a recent poll, we asked you what would make you switch to Starlink Mobile from one of the Big Three — or an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) — and almost 60 percent of voters said lower pricing.
This probably isn’t too surprising, as one of the biggest complaints with T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon nowadays is the fact that price hikes keep happening multiple times a year. Ultimately, it wasn’t cellular coverage that most people ended up caring about the most, but just how much they have to pay every month.
Speaking of which…
Dead zones and signal quality are still important

Almost 28 percent of you said that a lack of dead zones in Starlink Mobile’s coverage would get you to switch. Though the Big Three usually have most areas covered pretty reliably, dead zones still exist, especially away from cities and towns.

Starlink Mobile plans to use a combination of terrestrial and satellite infrastructure to eliminate dead zones across the States, though the efficacy of such an approach remains to be seen.
Lastly, a bit over 12 percent of respondents said that better signal quality would get them to switch. This being the least voted-for option further drives home the fact that the Big Three usually have most areas pretty well covered.
Customers who don’t get good signal quality, however, are understandably itching to switch to something better. What about you? Would you be willing to give Starlink Mobile a chance?

Starlink Mobile is a threat to T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon
Many people don’t seem to agree that Musk will be able to launch a successful, or even competent carrier. While the proposed solutions do seem fanciful on paper, I can’t help but think back to when a large portion of the internet used to boldly claim that Starlink itself would be impossible to set up.
SpaceX isn’t hurting for money if that’s the biggest hurdle. T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon can try to fight it, but if Musk doesn’t get bored halfway through, I genuinely think that Starlink Mobile is the greatest threat that the Big Three have faced in forever.
Starlink Mobile might go the way of the dodo, or it might thrash the Big Three:
