Alcatel Idol 5 for Cricket (6060C) receives FCC certification
The Alcatel Idol 5 has already appeared a number of times on the Geekbench and GFXBench benchmark sites revealing two different variants. One version (Idol 5S) is powered by the MediaTeK MT6757CH SoC carrying an octa-core 2.3GHz CPU, and the Mali-T880 GPU. 2GB of RAM is aboard this unit. The second model (Idol 5) has the Snapdragon 625 chipset under the hood. This also comes with an octa-core CPU, running at a slightly slower clock speed of 2GHz. The Adreno 506 GPU is on board along with 3GB of RAM.

The version of the Alcatel Idol 5 that comes with the Snapdragon chipset is believed to be the Alcatel 6060C. This handset has just been certified by the FCC en route to its likely destination at Cricket Wireless. The rest of the handset's specs are said to include a 5.2-inch screen with a 1080 x 1920 FHD resolution. 32GB of native storage is included. A 12MP camera adorns the back of the unit, with a front-facing 8MP snapper ready to take selfies and video chats. Android 7.1.1 is pre-installed.

With the device getting approval from the FCC, it shouldn't be too long before Cricket introduces the Alcatel Idol 5 for its prepaid customers. The Idol 5 should give Cricket subscribers a mid to upper range experience at a good price. Of course, we'll know the specifics once the phone is unveiled.
