This round Apple Watch concept may suit the UI better than the real device
The impressive amount of attention that Motorola’s Moto 360 and LG’s G Watch R are receiving is clearly a sign that a lot of people like round smartwatches better than square ones (perhaps due to the fact that most classic wrist watches are round). This being said, we’re thinking that some Apple fans wished the iWatch Watch was round. But it just isn’t, instead offering a rectangular display. That, however, didn’t stop Korean fan Alcion from making a round Apple Watch concept.

As you may know, Apple introduced a brand new iOS UI for its Watch - one that makes app icons round (and very small). Well, the round Watch concept that we mentioned above may suit this UI better than Apple’s real device. So maybe - just maybe - some of Apple’s next-generation Watches will have round displays. Of course, until next-generations arrive, we still have to wait quite a few months before the first Apple Watch hits the market (sometime in early 2015).

Take a look at the round Apple Watch concept below and let us know if you like it more than the real thing.

Took someone a day to come out with a more attractive concept than the real Apple watch. Do they even bother to put any effort into design any more?

It's very easy to come out with concepts based on the real design....it's just a combination of moto 360 and the apple watch.
If you are a real designer, you should also explain how to design and fit all the components inside it.

I'm pretty sure the making everything fit and work part is the engineers

that's the reason why they work together, you can't fit the components in any design, the engineer needs to approve everything...creating a more attractive concept is easy but it's not practical.

I'm going to have to agree with you. I'll stop trolling.

What #4 said and am sure the taptic engine influenced, quite largely, the final design.

The taptic engine is just a haptic feedback mechanism....like all the current phones have. Also, I am pretty sure Apple's engineers can figure out how to get things to work in a round watch just as everyone else's did. This concept is literally day and night better than the actual Apple Watch. Once again, Apple has failed pretty hard in their only saving grace, design.

The size of the motors for generating the different types of feedback must be something to consider.

The size of the motors remains the same and there likely is only one motor in there because two would be too powerful for a watch and drain too much battery. The feedback differentiation is largely done via bursts of pulses instead of multiple motors in mobile devices.

it's not just the internal components, the design also has a lot to do with the user interface...the icons and some animations are round but the apps,as we have seen in the keynote, are making good use of the rectangular display, especially the small controls at the corners...so,with all things considered, i think the rectangular display was the right choice for now...they may add more options in the future if they think it's important.

attractive design and very thin iPhone: needs more features
best features and powerful internals in watch: the design sucks
apple logo: gosh there must be something wrong with it

don't we all wish that every concept could be reality? if so I would be halfway around the world in my hover-ferrari. but please... some pragmatism?

funny how the apple watch appears to be highly customizable and has strong internals... not what they normally go with

No they don't and they don't care.

Stamp a logo on it, and fans will buy anything Apple provides.

Good Apple won't be successful this year.

Wow, that looks really nice. Fits better with their "digital crown," but then again I liked the concepts of the iPhone 6 better than the real thing also. Why Johnny!? Why couldn't you've just made the iPhone 6 look like this instead!

My prediction is that Apple next year will be releasesing a round Apple watch and a smaller iphone 6.

Apple went from having the smallest phone on the market to having a phone taller than the Note 4 overnight. Spec wise the 5.5" has the best features which is making many people highly upset. You can tell that the 4.7" received less attention.
The large horde of people that made fun of Samsung owners for massize phones will have to make a decision on two phones that are less than ideal. Huge phone with better battery, display and camera vs smaller size, less dpi and no optical image stabilization.
Can't wait to see the reviews next week.

For months, this site has been running pretty pictures of potential iWatch mock-ups, and every one of them is more appealing than the actual Apple Watch.

Apples real 'Apple Watch' has been inspired by plastic toy watches. Maybe they should turn to concept artists to create their watches.

Concept is a concept. Concept can do anything in the design and whatsoever and it will never be the same with real device. Unless if this concept came from Apple and I'm sure they gonna follow that design and whatever include to that Watch.

Concept just to make fun for people like you and me and make interest to watch and read.

well, THAT looks fugly. So yeah, try to put all the sensors and features in that tiny housing. Building a concept is easy, developing the real watch is another task that many people in here wouldn't be able to build - so yeah, try it yourself ;)

Apple has been working on the watch for 3 years apparently & I think round slim displays are new this year so I guess Apple took the decision to stick with the non round screen (bad choice in my mind) but I guess the Apple Watch 2 will be more round.

It's amazing how many people here know better...maybe you should apply for a job in Apples engineering dept?? Or any engineering dept for that matter...or you could just carry out sitting behind your computer and whining..

That does look better than the real thing. They should make a round apple watch.

Instead of three different tiers of iwatch ,apple should have launched one round shape watch and one which it is releasing............
