The Honor 8 is now official with a dual camera set up on back, and the Kirin 950 SoC inside
The Honor 8 was unveiled in China today, and the phone features a 5.2-inch 2.5D curved glass display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. Perhaps the most striking part of the phone is found on back, where a dual 12MP camera set up is found. Both cameras sport laser auto focus and an aperture of f/2.2. This is similar to the dual cameras found on the back of the previously unveiled Huawei Honor V8.

Besides the two cameras, the back of the Honor 8 includes a fingerprint sensor. Under the hood you'll find some home cooking as the Kirin 950 chipset drives the device with an octa-core CPU and the Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. Three variants of the phone are being offered. One comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage, while the other two feature 4GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB of internal memory. And yes Virginia, there is a 128GB capacity microSD slot on board. The latter is part of a hybrid dual SIM tray.

Selfie shooters can use the 8MP front-facing camera, which also handles video chats. A 3000mAh battery keeps the lights on, and offers fast charging capabilities. Android 6.0 is pre-installed with EMUI 4.1 running on top. The Honor 8 measures just 7.45mm thin, and weighs 153 grams.

The phone can be purchased in Pearl White, Sunrise Gold, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink and Sapphire Blue. The version with 3GB RAM and 32GB native storage is priced at $299 USD. The model with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage costs $343 USD. The unit with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will run you $374 USD. Registrations are being taken now by online retailers like VMall.com, and the Huawei Honor 8 will launch on July 19th..
