Samsung Galaxy S5, Note 4 and other 2014 flagships rumored to get 16 MP OIS cameras
Remember that 16 MP optically stabilized mobile camera (OIS) module Samsung was rumored to prep for the S5 not long ago? Well, according to Korean media this same piece of equipment will find its way into all of Samsung's premium phones next year.

This, naturally, includes the upcoming Galaxy S5 and Note 4, so what can we expect from the cameras on those devices? According to the same publication two weeks ago, Sony and Samsung's LSI division itself, are fighting to be the suppliers of 16 MP camera module for the Galaxy S5.

Sony has established itself as the go-to company for mobile camera sensors, around which manufacturers build their own modules, providing them with the optical image stabilization suspension in some cases, and the likes. Its sensors can be found in all the current top handsets like the LG G2, Nexus 5, iPhone 5S, and even Samsung's Galaxy S4 and Note 3.

Samsung LSI will have the advantage of the home turf, though, and it recently introduced the ISOCELL mobile camera technology that promises better exposure and less blur, so the scales might tip in its favor. So far we've only had 13 MP modules with OIS tech in the Android land, so going 16 MP will have to be a new sensor tech.

In fact, the Korean publication claims that Samsung has already ordered 181 million optically stabilized 16 MP modules, though it doesn't specify whether to Sony or to its LSI subdivision. This, however, means we might get them in other premium models, perhaps the rumored exclusive F line, too.

O, you're so smart aren't you?
While you are awake wooing all these smartphones bring, you'll forget to live life and instead focus on devices that makes you forget how to live.

So what're you doing on this site and first on the thread to comment ?

BTW, what makes you think he has no life ! Some people (including myself) like new tech and that's why they visit this website.

If you don't like something no need to visit the site and be the first one to comment and act like a judgemental fool when someone replies your idiotic comment !

I'm here cause i want to...and i'm not trying to post a baseless 1st comment. I happen to read and then, saw no one commented...so i commented and that's bad?? That space is for comments 1st or not...you realize that right?

By the way...my first comment was meant as a sarcasm! And boo to all you who didn't get it.

First you say:

"i'm not trying to post a baseless 1st comment."

And then you say:

"I happen to read and then, saw no one commented...so i commented..."

So basically you commented not because you had something wise to say, but because you saw that no one did that. And when someone deservedly criticize your stupid comment, you started to be offensive and talk about other person's life and say that he has no life when you also spend here a lot of time... It is just pathetic!

Given the bar that as been set by the ZlG G2 and Nexus 5, plus others, 2014 flagship phones will have to offer an improved camera function. I wonder how Apple will respond with the iP6? 5 inch full HD screen is going to be another requirement.

I love the constant improvements to the camera. The only thing I question is why aren't ALL companies working on insane battery tech????

Apple and Samsung have more than enough resources!!!

That's my question. Don't get me wrong, I think the 23-3k units in the current flag ships are alright, and decent enough, but new devices should be in the 3k range consistently.

I don't want to buy all those extra's when Samsung could have included it like other manufacturers. Why all the extra effort as they could have kept it simple?

I have a Sony Xperia and it does not have a FM Transmitter... it does have FM Radio Receiver if that is what you mean... but given that you replied to my previous advice about bluetooth it seems that you do understand the difference between Transmitter and Receiver...

Anyway if you meant FM Radio I agree, Samsung should include it, but almost no manufacturer today is including an FM transmitter. Bluetooth is the way to go...

I still have my old Nokia N97 Symbian phone. It has an FM tranmitter. I use it exclusively as a music player now. It's nice to be able to play my music over my portable stereo or even my car stereo. Older cars don't have BT connectivity.

Does it really need to be much better? I mean it's only purpose is "selfies" and video chat. I use the later, but not very often.

why do you need more than that? A 2MP camera actually can shoot a FHD video with those pixels. So, why would you really need anything more than that?

samsung might not be the best, but they at least support 1,5year old device (SGS3, hopefully it will see 4.4 kitkat) and has pretty damn good battery which we all know is the most underrated thing, 3100 mAh for note 2 is just marvelous, once you have it you can't go back, and that display on note 3, WHAT THE HELL?! it is bloody marvelous
