A refresh version of the Samsung Galaxy S III will make a great phone even greater

Just because the Samsung Galaxy S 4 is days away from being introduced doesn't mean that the Korean manufacturer has completely given up on the Samsung Galaxy S III. After all, the device took all of the positive momentum that Samsung earned with the Samsung Galaxy S II and expanded on it more than Samsung could ever had hoped. Now, Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin has sent out a tweet about a refresh version of the Galaxy S III that takes a great device and makes it even greater.

According to Murtazin, the 2100mAh battery on the original Samsung Galaxy S III will be replaced with a 2400mAh cell. The tweet also hinted at an improved display, although it was not said how Samsung would achieve this. It could be a higher resolution panel that will be on the refresh version of the device, we just don't know at this time. Additionally, wireless charging will be enabled.

It all sounds good, but we're pretty sure that Samsung has something more urgent to talk about for now.

Well Im quite sure this aint priced at $750....the S3 is just now a souped up mid-ranger but why compare it with a pricey flagship phone?

This is one of two reasons HTC is failing. First, they regularly over price their phones MSRP, and two they rarely listen to what it is the customers want. Just like leaving their customers, like me, hanging on ICS, and JB. They refuse to truly build a phone with a GOOD battery. I'm not talking about decent, I am talking about a good 2500-2800 mah battery. If they did that, then I could justify the 750 dollars. But, knowing that they will refuse support for their devices after 6 months, evo view/flyer/jetstream/etc, then what would I settle with a phone with ok specs but that won't last me thought the day? I say this as someone who spends a lot of time in building with poor service and without a beefy battery I'm lucky to make it to 5 without recharging. That's with maybe an hour of screen on time, and no, I will not put my phone in air plane mode just to make it though the day.

What HTC phones costs $750?? Heck the DNA is $600. Christ all mighty you people seriously need to understand that the manufacturers aren't responsible for the VAT tax. A tax that doesn't exist in the USA so converting EU prices to dollars is a total waste of time. And makes you seem ignorant.

Here in Greece on launch day at one of the biggest retailers here, it will cost 729 euro (950 usd)
i know that the taxes here are pretty high (23%)
but still it is quite a lot of money.
i am sure HTC could sell it for less to their reailers.

In Germany is 600euros, so you can always import:

Did you even read what I wrote? It had far more to do with HTC's inability to listen than it did with the price of the phone. Also, I didn't do the conversion, I haven't seen what HTC is charging for the one, but in the past their MSRP's have typically ranged 50-100 dollars more than samsung or Moto. Sorry you can't read. I am speaking specifically on HTC's past phones and how they have continued to not listen to the customer. See removing the SD card slot, removable batteries without putting a decent size alternative on the market(see the razr/razr maxx) or slow/non existent software updates. If HTC would actually listen to the customers, then they wouldn't be in the position they are in right now, cost factor notwithstanding.

The HTC One Developer Edition is priced at US.$645 so I don't see the regular version being priced higher than that. If anything $600 like the DNA or maybe like their past phones $545.

Maybe S3 Plus with Exynos 5 dual, Mali T604 and 1080p Super Amoled display, that'll be a very good mid ranger I think

There was a rumor that they were going to introduce the GS4 mini on Thursday as well, code named Altius. Could be a smart watch too. Not sure I buy those rumors but maybe they are releasing the GS3 + mini instead of the GS4 mini for the small phone crowd.

Maybe THIS is what those leaked pics were of. And Samsung gave that teaser if to throw us off. After all usually pictures of cases r usually correct and those supposed cases were squarer.

I refuse to believe Samsung, a smart company, would choose to bring this even to the grandaddy of all stages, times square, and release a new phone that's just an upgrade. With all this hype I just don't see that.

Especially they have some cab driver in the teaser video say its the biggest thing since color TV....

No one has mentioned a Green PHOLED screen? My prediction? 5" S4 with 1080p Green PHOLED and refreshed S3 with the same 4.8" 720p screen but upgraded to also be a Green PHOLED. Refreshed S3 will hit the market later than the S4.

25. marceldy posted on 13 Mar 2013, 01:50

That's what it started to think after reading this article, S4 and "S3+".

24. shuaibhere posted on 13 Mar 2013, 01:44

May be this the device in that video...a refreshed s3 with dual sim..

If this relaunch was to compete with the nexus 4 around 300$ I would be all over it
