Verizon announces CASIO G’zOne Rock, sports some cool software
For all of you, who don’t know what “to play it safe” means, Verizon has just announced the successor to the G’zOne Boulder, the CASIO G’zOne Rock C731. The new phone sports a 2MP camera, stereo Bluetooth and EV-DO Rev. A support, but most importantly, it conforms to the MIL-STD-810F ruggedness standard that gives it resistance to water, humidity, shock, vibration, dust, solar radiation, salt fog and altitude, as well as high and low temperature storage. As you see, it can’t withstand your mother-in-law’s criticisms, but then again, who can? However, another interesting thing about the Rock is that it will come with some kind of a special software package, called G’zGear. Basically, it consists of six applications, the names of which pretty much speak for themselves: Earth Compass, Walking Counter, Thermometer, Astro Calendar, Sunrise Sunset, Tides. Sounds nice.

You will be able to purchase the CASIO G’zOne Rock C731, starting November 20, at a price of $199 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate. Does the G’zOne Rock sound like a better deal than the rugged Motorola Barrage that’s currently available on Big Red?
