More than 20 million Oppo R9 and R9 Plus handsets have been rung up?
Taking selfies is just as popular as ever based on the number of Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus units that have reportedly been sold. Both models are equipped with a 16MP front-facing camera (and not merely a rotating camera that flips from rear-facing to front-facing like on the Oppo N1), and Oppo has reportedly sold more than 20 million units of the pair.

Both models were unveiled a bit over five months ago. The R9 carries a 5.5-inch screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution, while the resolution is the same on the R9 Plus' 6-inch display. The 16MP back and front cameras found on both handsets come with an f/2.0 aperture, and employ Phase Detection Auto Focus to quickly get a subject ready to be photographed. The R9 is powered by the MediaTek MT6755 with an octa-core 2GHz CPU and the Mali-T860 MP2 GPU. The R9 Plus is driven by the Snapdragon 652 SoC offering an octa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 510 GPU. Both have 4GB of RAM inside.

Considering that these are flagship quality phones and not low-end budget models, this is quite a feather in Oppo's cap. And while the Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus have more going for them than the 16MP selfie snapper each sports, it certainly helps to differentiate the phones from the competition.
