Google's new Android One handsets for Indonesia will come with Android 5.1, no word on updates for Nexus devices

Google's Android One page for Indonesia models is up – did it just confirm an Android 5.1 update?
Google's Android One program may not be doing as well as the company had hoped, but this doesn't seem to sway the company from its goal of distributing reasonably priced, adequately spec'd handsets throughout developing markets. For those of you tuning in just now – Android One is an effort to bring affordable, Android-powered handsets to developing markets, as Google partners up with local retailers and helps them build a phone that doesn't cost an arm and a leg by local standards, yet can deliver midrange performance. The first three Android One phones were launched in India this September and, contrary to what Google and its partners may have hoped for, are not doing incredibly good, as retailers refuse to stock them.

Well, the plan is still in motion, as a second batch of One handsets are on their way to Indonesia, as can be seen by the recently activated Indonesian page on the Android One website. The three new handsets will be the Evercoss One X, Mito Impact, and Nexian Journey, all three spec'd the same – 4.5” FWVGA (480x854) display, 1.3 GHz, quad-core Cortex A7 CPU, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage (expandable to 32 GB), 2 microSIM slots, 5 MP / 2 MP camera combo, and a 1,700 mAh battery.

Now, what's interesting is that the website claims that the handsets will come with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. We could attribute it to a typo, but we can see it plastered all over the page – in the header, in the sub-title, and the phone specs, so either someone missed that the version is supposed to be 5.0.1, or there's a new, slightly larger update for Lollipop devices coming soon(ish).

Update: The guys from Android Police have gotten a hold of a few photos of the Nexian Journey and Evercoss One X, which confirm that the handsets are running Android 5.1. They have been added to the slideshow below. Whether this new version will be rolling out to Nexus devices any time soon, and what exactly it will change / update – we've no word.
