Xreal Aura AR smart glasses get free multiplayer game from beloved developer

Resolution Games is no stranger to designing compelling AR experiences for XR (Extended Reality) devices and Holochess is no different. In Holochess, you can play against either the computer or another player.

The game brings a 5x5 grid to life in your surroundings and populates it with beautifully animated characters. You can choose from three factions:

• Clankers
• The Xenoswarm
• And a third faction that you can purchase for $2.99

Unlike many other strategy games, however, Holochess is designed for short five-minute sessions that require quick thinking. Players don’t wait for their turn in Holochess, instead making their moves simultaneously.



The key lies in predicting what your opponent is likely to do next. Do so, and your own move will get you one step closer to victory.

There are other fun factors in play here as well. For example, as the match progresses, the tiles on the virtual board start decaying into kill zones, which adds another layer of challenge and tests your ability to adapt quickly.

You win by either eliminating your opponent’s squad or claiming five crowns. However, each crown costs your unit some health. It sounds like a pretty fun time and a game that you could play short sessions of or lose yourself in for hours.

Gaming on smart glasses just makes sense

Manufacturers are moving to smart glasses over traditional VR headsets, so it only makes sense that games would follow. Being able to boot up an AR game without having to put on a headset that you normally wouldn’t wear around the house or out in public sounds very appealing.
