As you might know, pre-orders for the first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, will start at 8 am EDT on Friday, October 16. The phone will be released a week later, on October 23.
Apple will allow its customers to set up their iPhone Duo pre-orders on October 12
But Apple is giving those who plan to pre-order the iPhone Duo four extra days to set up their pre-order for the 16th. From October 12 to October 15, they will be able to select the color of the Duo they want and choose the accessories they want shipped with their Duo pre-order. The pre-order set up will be done through the Apple Store app (not the App Store) and the Apple.com website.
As soon as the pre-order period is open, those who set up a pre-order should be able to submit the order with the tap of a button. If you don't have the App Store app on your iPhone, simply tap on this link.
The price of the iPhone Duo is $1,999 for the model with 256GB of storage. The variant with 512GB of storage is $2,199, and the 1TB Duo is priced at $2,599. The 2TB iPhone Duo will cost you a whopping $3,199.
The Apple Store app also lists several accessories for the iPhone Duo including a $79 iPhone Duo Case in Navy Blue. The iPhone Duo Kickstand, in Taupe, carries a price tag of $129.

Other options that can be selected during the four days before the pre-order window opens include the carrier the Duo buyer wants the new phone locked to, the amount of storage available on the device, the shipping and billing addresses, how they plan on paying, setting up a trade-in, taking advantage of a great carrier deal, and whether AppleCare+ insurance coverage will be purchased.

Prepping in advance your iPhone Duo pre-order takes the pressure and the associated nerves out of the equation. It also speeds up the entire pre-ordering process, increasing the chances that you will receive your new iPhone Duo on the scheduled release date instead of having to wait for a delayed back-order release date.

Apple is expected to produce 6 million foldable iPhone units in 2026
Analysts believe that Apple will deliver 6 million iPhone Duo units in 2026. Compare that figure with the 80 million iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Duo units that Apple is forecast to produce between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027. Obviously, the vast majority of those 80 million iPhone handsets produced will be of the non-folding variety.
Speaking of 2027, during the spring we will see more iPhone models released including the base iPhone 18 model, the iPhone Air 2, and the iPhone 18e.
