We may be waiting for the iPhone 18 Pro and the foldable iPhone Ultra, but Apple appears to have had a refresh ready for some other products. Alongside the newly launched M6 chipset, Mac Mini, and Mac Studio computers, the company has also “upgraded” its lowest-tech product.
Apple’s Polishing Cloth is now $10 cheaper
Apple just launched a new polishing cloth, which could be its only product to come with a price cut this year. The most important, and probably only, change to the “new” polishing cloth is its price, which is now $9 instead of $19.
Everything else on the new cloth’s product page appears exactly the same as before. It’s still “made with soft, nonabrasive material,” and it’s compatible with a massive list of Apple products, going back to the iPhone 5.

A key quality of the polishing cloth, which was first launched in 2021, is that it can clean every Apple display in existence. This includes the ones sporting the company’s nano-texture cover, with the description pointing out its safe an effective.
Interestingly enough, the Polishing Cloth was launched on the same day as two of Apple’s products that are not in its compatibility list. Of course, neither the Mac Mini, nor the Mac Studio has a display, so you may need a Studio Display to use it.

There’s a small chance that the discount is not an accident and the cloth is indeed smaller than its earlier version. However, Apple has never shared details about its size on the product page, so we’ll need to wait for the first orders to arrive to their owners to confirm if there’s a change.
Unsurprisingly, users on Reddit are having a field day with the release, with jokes ranging from M6 compatibility to tandem OLED microfiber technology, and questions if the upgrade would be worth it. On a more serious note, one user shared that it was the best cleaning cloth they’ve ever used.

This will always be part of Apple’s lore
I haven’t used Apple’s Polishing Cloth personally, but I can’t stress the importance of a good cleaning cloth in my life. There are few things more annoying than a dirty display on a bright day, and if a $9 Apple cloth is what can spare me from this, I’d pay for it.
Fortunately, I already have a much cheaper non-Apple cloth that does the job well enough, but I may consider an upgrade now. Either way, the Polishing Cloth won't cease being one of the funniest Apple products and its excessive compatibility list is a growingly important part of the company's history.
