Back in January 2022, I purchased my Pixel 6 Pro. To say that I was really looking forward to receiving the device would be an understatement. Ever since the Made-by-Google event unveiled the phone, I was hooked by the AI features that Google was able to include thanks to the debut of its Tensor SoC.

I’ve been impressed by the Spigen Rugged Armor case

At the time, I owned an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I felt that iOS was stale. Also, before the iPhone, my daily driver was the Pixel 2 XL, a steady workhorse of a phone that is considered one of the best pre-Tensor Pixel models.

How do you feel about adorning your phone with a case?

When my Pixel 6 Pro finally arrived, I had to make the most important accessory purchase of them all: which case should I buy? Actually, it was a no-brainer. For my Pixel 2 XL, I had used the Spigen Rugged Armor, a case that cost me approximately $15 on Amazon. I was so impressed with the case that I went back to the Rugged Armor for the Pixel 6 Pro, and it was priced about the same.

Some of the features of the case

I'm hoping to find enough change in the couch to buy a Pixel 11 Pro XL this year, and if I do, I will purchase the tried-and-true Spigen Rugged Armor case. Some of the things that I love about this case include:

  • Military-grade drop protection thanks to the Air Cushion Technology in the corners that absorbs shock.
  • The body uses flexible TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane).
  • Raised lips protect the screen and the camera from a fall.
  • Case is wireless charging compatible.

Since I've owned the Pixel 6 Pro, I have dropped the device countless times. In fact, today alone I dropped the phone multiple times. No matter the situation, the Spigen Rugged Armor did its job. It's also easy to take off and put on.

A special pattern on the back helps disperse the shock from a hard fall

The back of the case uses a spider web pattern that helps to absorb and disperse the shock from a fall. This design does a great job of spreading out the impact and blow taken when the back of the phone lands squarely on the hard floor.

When my daily driver was the Pixel 2 XL, the Rugged Armor also kept this phone well protected. It's up to you whether you want to enhance the protection by adding a screen protector. I found that I didn't need or particularly want one, but you might be different.

The Spigen Rugged Armor case for the Pixel 10 Pro XL is available from Amazon currently priced at $18.99, and it is compatible with the MagFit magnetic wireless charging feature. This offers a huge savings from the $39.99 price of the case listed on Spigen's own website.

Thanks to the case, drops no longer worry me

Are you the type of phone owner who worries every time his phone hits the ground that something internally has been broken? I used to be just like that until I saw the Spigen cases protect my Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 6 Pro. Now, I don't even give it a second thought when I drop my Pixel 6 Pro because I feel totally confident that the case will protect it.

Spigen also offers other cases for the Pixel 10 line and for other devices. I'm writing about the Rugged Armor because I've had this case for the two Pixel models I've owned. This first-hand experience makes me qualified to write about this particular case.

I can tell you that you don't need to buy the most expensive case for your phone; thanks to my experience with Spigen cases on my Pixel phones in real life, I know that you can spend less than $20 on Amazon for a rugged case that will protect your phone.
