Is the T-Mobile Tuesdays program changing? | Image by Matt van Leeuwen
T-Mobile has started forcing customers off legacy plans, bumping up monthly bills by at least $6 per line and revoking the $10 KickBack discount. If you needed more proof of the company straying from its Un-carrier identity, the upcoming T-Mobile Tuesdays drop won't be free.
Things cost money, you know

T-Mobile has teamed up with sports apparel brand Umbro to launch exclusive jerseys as Member Month comes to a close. It's a timely partnership, considering the World Cup is currently underway.
The limited-edition jerseys will be available exclusively via the T-Life app on July 7. Unlike typical T-Mobile Tuesdays merchandise, this item is going to cost you $60.
Pay to be a walking advertisement
To be fair, T-Mobile Tuesdays isn't just about freebies. However, physical items are usually free. Those gifts are typically sourced from China, like the rumored tumblers the company is expected to hand out next.

Umbro, on the other hand, is a premium English company, so T-Mobile probably didn't want to foot the entire bill. That still doesn't make this right for two reasons.
First, the jerseys are littered with T-Mobile and Umbro logos. Second, $60 is roughly the average price of a standard Umbro jersey, so T-Mobile isn't even giving you a discount.
What's T-Mobile trying to do?
Poor timing
While it is peak football season, the US team's next knockout-stage match is on July 6. If the team loses, the jersey will just be a sad reminder of that defeat.
T-Mobile originally planned to offer the apparel on June 30, but it looks like things didn't go to plan.

Also, with T-Mobile accepting payments for the swag, we wonder if the jerseys will be delivered directly to customers' doorsteps. Does that mark the end of T-Mobile Tuesdays as we know it and signal store closures?
A bittersweet month
T-Mobile celebrated the tenth anniversary of T-Mobile Tuesdays by lavishing customers with discounts, rewards, and freebies. Nearly 14 million customers flooded the app during the first week alone, with 1,500 of them fueling up for just $1.99 per gallon, 600,000 securing fuel savings codes, and everyone getting another free year of DashPass.
But June was also the month when T-Mobile decided to move longtime customers off their old plans. Will a $60 jersey make up for that?
