Remember the Tecno Spark Slim concept phone. For a couple of months, this device held the title "world's slimmest phone" (then the iPhone Air came and took that crown away) with its thickness of just 5.75 mm. Now there's yet another model from Tecno's Spark lineup launching, the Spark Go 3 Pro.

Tecno has officially unveiled the Spark Go 3 Pro, its new member of the Spark family. The phone comes equipped with a 6.78-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and has an IP68 and IP69-rated build for dust and water resistance.
Further down the specs sheet we find some pretty modest numbers, as this phone belongs to the budget segment. The Spark 3 Pro features 4GB of RAM, 128GB of onboard storage, and an octa-core MediaTek Helio G81 4G chipset with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.
There's only one main camera on the back, a 13-megapixel wide snapper with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. The selfie camera is an 8-megapixel one with an f/2.0 aperture and fixed focus.
The phone is around 8 mm thick, but Tecno managed to snug a 5,200 mAh battery inside, supporting 15W charging, and the charger is included in the retail box.

Tecno Spark Go 3 Pro price and availability
The big caveat here is that Tecno has launched the phone in India first, with international availability to follow.

The starting price is around $169.99 for the 64GB model, and the 128GB version costs $10 more. What's so interesting about this budget phone, you may ask? There are plenty of budget phones available worldwide, but this one is different in a subtle way.

Tecno markets this smartphone as focused on structural resistance, durability, and use in demanding physical environments.
The phone offers a high-level of ingress protection at a super-low price point. I've never seen an IP69 phone at this price.
Here's what Tecno has to say about the Spark Go 3 Pro:
For millions of people, a smartphone isn’t a luxury item — it's an essential tool for their livelihood. When your phone is central to how you earn a living, accidental damage stops your entire day in its tracks. We engineered the TECNO SPARK Go 3 Pro so hard-working users never have to baby their device, giving them total peace of mind through every shift, rainstorm, and commute.

Do we need cheap, robust phones?
Absolutely! Not everyone is stuck behind a desk all day, and there are people out there doing physical work in harsh conditions. You wouldn't take your $1,000 iPhone to the construction site or farming field.
Meanwhile, most budget phones offer little to no protection; they're made from cheap plastic and are susceptible to water and dust damage. Of course, there are specialized extra-durable phones out there, such as CAT models, but they come with compromised hardware and software experience and cost quite a bit more.
The Tecno Spark Go 3 Pro is a neat idea — a durable phone that can survive harsh environments, a phone that's sleek and thin, and a phone that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I think we need more models like this one.
