If you’re looking for a new 8-inch tablet, I believe you’ll appreciate Amazon’s October Prime Day deal on likely the best compact slate on the market: the iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip.

Now selling for $100 off its price, you can treat yourself to the 128GB version of this small beast for just south of $500, making it a real treat during the Prime Day bonanza. And if you think 128GB of storage won’t be sufficient, you can save $100 on the 256GB model too, letting you pick the one that best fits your needs.

Boasting an 8.3-inch LCD display with a 2266 x 1488 resolution, the latest version of the iPad mini offers pleasant visuals on the go. While you’ll be missing out on the deep colors and better brightness Apple’s fancy Tandem OLED displays deliver, the viewing experience is still pretty great, letting you stream movies, TV series, and, of course, PhoneArena’s latest YouTube videos in high quality.

Just keep in mind that Apple, being Apple, has capped the screen at a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 nits. The lower display frequency is something you can get used to, but the lower brightness might make using the tablet a bit tricky in direct sunlight outdoors. Indoors, however, you shouldn't have any issues.

That capable display comes backed by solid performance thanks to the A17 Pro silicon inside. Yes, it may not be on the level of the M4 in the iPad Air or the M5 in the iPad Pro, but it still has plenty of firepower, allowing you to tackle day-to-day stuff without a hitch.

Overall, the iPad mini (A17 Pro) is absolutely worth grabbing right now, so if you agree, act quickly and save with this deal before it’s too late!
