Bad news for the iPhone Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 as this foldable rival smells like camera flagship

We're in the eye of the foldable storm right now, as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is breaking sales records; also, it's less than a week until the iPhone Ultra, a.k.a. Apple's first-ever foldable iPhone.
But, as Master Yoda once said (in a galaxy far, far away), there is another: the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Fold.
Many don't look past the Apple/Samsung smartphone duopoly and that's understandable. But given that foldables are simply too expensive, it's wise to be informed as best as possible before buying a foldable. And that includes the Xiaomi 18 Fold, folks. We simply can't ignore this bad boy; moreover, this one could be a solid camera phone besides a mere foldable.

All of the above look crisp, saturated, rich and true-to-life without being artificially oversharpened or overblown. Also, I really like the rendering of the skin tones and the dynamic range. These easily look as if they've been taken not with a foldable but with a proper slab camera phone.
It's expected that the Xiaomi 18 Fold will be announced on September 7, which is on a Monday. As always, the phone will initially launch in China, but I hope it makes it to international markets, too.
If it does, the iPhone Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 models will have a difficult time competing for photogs' hearts, minds… and money.
The best foldables come with the best, brightest—and, above all—the sturdiest displays. That's why you're buying the darn thing in the first place.
Once upon a time, foldables simply couldn't lure mobile photographers, as their camera setups were pretty basic.
I'm glad to see this phenomenon fading away now. Those who want a foldable AND a solid camera phone will have their cake and eat it too—no need to compromise.
Of course, it's important to stress that the sample photos are NOT what all of your shots will be looking like. Bear in mind that sample photos are taken by skilled photographers in perfect lighting conditions. But the mere fact that a foldable is capable of producing such images is nothing short of remarkable.
