Visual Intelligence will get a significant upgrade with iOS 27 | Image by PhoneArena
It may have taken Apple two years, but the company is expected to push Apple Intelligence all over the upcoming iOS 27. Alongside the Siri 2.0 upgrade and the recently leaked photo-editing features, the company may also introduce major changes to the Camera app.
The iOS 27 Camera app may get a new Siri mode
Apple may introduce new AI-powered features to the Camera app on iOS 27. The company is planning to move the Visual Intelligence feature inside the Camera app and rebrand it with the Siri name, according to a Bloomberg report.
Siri will be a new toggle option in the Camera app alongside the Photo, Video, Portrait, and Panorama modes. When using the app in the new Siri mode, users will see a new camera shutter button resembling the Apple Intelligence logo instead of the white button currently visible in Visual Intelligence.

Expanded capabilities
Alongside the redesign, Apple is also expected to launch several new features for the Siri mode inside the Camera app. Those could include a food nutrition labels scanner that would allow users to easily log dietary information.
Another new feature would allow users to add contact details directly from print media or business cards with the camera.

Apple will still allow users to access the feature by pressing and holding the Camera Control button. However, that shortcut will just launch the Camera app on the new Siri mode instead of the standalone Visual Intelligence interface currently used.
Apple’s big AI push
Apple will introduce iOS 27 during its WWDC 26 keynote in early June alongside macOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, and upgrades to all its operating systems. Artificial intelligence is expected to be among the highlights for all releases, including the major Siri upgrade, which was first announced in 2024.
The new AI features are an important part of Apple’s future plans, as the company is rumored to launch several AI-powered wearable devices. Those are expected to include new AirPods, smart glasses, and a pendant, powered by a version of Siri that can analyze the surrounding environment.
Nothing revolutionary
Apple will do its best to make those new features sound like it has reinvented the wheel, but that’s not the case. The Camera has been capable of scanning text and QR codes for years, and these new features sound like a nice upgrade to features that were never labeled as AI.
That doesn’t make an integrated business card scanner less useful. It’s just that most AI features are not the smart revolution big tech is trying to sell us.
